Nicolle Niette
NATCHITOCHES, LA. – The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) will host an Exploration Day on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Prospective students and their families are invited to tour the campus, meet current students, faculty, and staff, and experience LSMSA's living-learning environment.
Started by the Louisiana State Legislature in 1983, LSMSA is the state's premier public boarding school, providing a tuition-free pre-college experience for academically motivated high school students from throughout Louisiana. Visiting students will be able to attend classes, while parents will have the chance to learn about LSMSA's unique educational model from various administrators.
"Exploration Day offers families a firsthand look at the remarkable opportunities available to students attending LSMSA," said Emily Shumate, Director of Enrollment Management and Outreach. "By sitting in on classes and exploring our campus, prospective students get to experience our college-level curriculum and supportive residential community for themselves. We invite families to see what sets LSMSA apart and to witness the impact it can have on their student’s future."
Exploration Day is recommended for students currently in eighth grade or higher; younger siblings may attend; however, they should accompany their parents to all parent activities. Registration is required and can be completed atwww.LSMSA.edu/visit.
