    Gov. Edwards formally dedicates new $26 million residence hall

    Last week, Governor John Bel Edwards and First Lady Donna Edwards visited Natchitoches to formally dedicate the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA)’s new 110,000-square-foot Living Learning Commons (LLC) that began housing sophomores, juniors, and seniors attending the tuition-free, publicly funded residential high school in the fall of 2021.

  • LSMSA senior places in Jostens Photo Contest

    LSMSA senior Lily St. Amant of Ruston recently placed third in the 2022 Jostens Photo Contest, a premier student photography competition. Jostens is primarily known for its production of yearbooks and class rings for various high schools and colleges. This year's photo contest had 4,287 entries. St. Amant initially created her entry for her Photography II class as part of a series focused on displaying emotions through color, facial expression, and lighting.

    The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) will hold its 38th commencement ceremony to honor the class of 2022 on Saturday, May 21 at 2 p.m. in Prather Coliseum on the campus of Northwestern State University. Serving as the guest speaker is Dr. Claire Norris, Vice President for Advancement at the University of Louisiana (UL) System, who has spent most of her career cultivating and maintaining equitable teaching and learning environments for faculty, staff, and students.

  • Four LSMSA seniors named National Merit finalists

    The following LSMSA seniors from throughout the state have been selected as finalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program: Allison “Raney” Cappel (’22) of Lake Charles; Nicholas Guagliardo (’22) of Ponchatoula; Isabella Le (’22) of Lafayette; and Brandon Turner (’22) of Sulphur. In addition, Le was awarded a National Merit scholarship from Walgreens.

    Louisiana School hosts first in-person state Latin club convention since 2019

    In March, LSMSA and NSU Scholars' College hosted more than 130 student delegates from six schools throughout the state at the 71st annual Louisiana Junior Classical League (JCL) Convention in Natchitoches.
