Executive Director

Dr. Jason C. Anderson serves as Executive Director of the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA), Louisiana's premier residential high school for high-achieving students. A dedicated educator and academic leader, Dr. Anderson has spent more than fifteen years serving LSMSA in a variety of capacities, including faculty member, faculty representative to the Board of Directors, Director of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer, and now Executive Director.

As Executive Director, Dr. Anderson provides strategic leadership for the institution, overseeing academic programs, student life, enrollment initiatives, fiscal stewardship, and stakeholder engagement while advancing LSMSA's mission of developing the next generation of leaders, innovators, and scholars. Throughout his career, he has been committed to fostering academic excellence, cultivating a world-class faculty and staff, and ensuring that LSMSA remains a transformative educational experience for students across Louisiana.
 
Dr. Anderson joined LSMSA in 2011 as a biology instructor and currently holds the rank of Principal Lecturer of Science. During his tenure, he has taught courses in introductory biology, genetics, and meteorology, mentored hundreds of students, and led numerous institutional initiatives, including academic programming, faculty development, summer enrichment programs, and strategic planning efforts.
 
A native Louisianan, Dr. Anderson earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Southern University and A&M College and a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Breeding from Texas A&M University. His doctoral work concentrated on cytogenetics and molecular biology, and he has authored and co-authored several scholarly publications in plant genetics and genomics.
 
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Dr. Anderson remains actively engaged in civic, professional, and community organizations. He is a member of the Natchitoches Rotary Club, the Louisiana Superintendents' Association, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. He is also a member of Our Savior's Church in Opelousas, Louisiana.
 
Dr. Anderson has been married to his wife Phyllis for thirteen years. Mrs. Anderson serves as Assistant Vice President/Internal Auditor at City Bank & Trust Company. Together, they are proud dog parents to Ryker, their two-year-old rescue who has become a beloved member of their family. 

Board of Directors

LSMSA's governing body is the Board of Directors. The Board comprises of 24 members representing alumni, parents of alumni, current and former faculty, state education administrators, state legislators and friends of LSMSA.

The Board of Directors meets quarterly in LSMSA's Jimmy D. Long, Sr. Boardroom.
