31st Annual SLAMT Ends in Historic Tie, LSMSA Takes Top Prizes

LSMSA Athletics hosted more than 140 visiting student athletes from the Arkansas School for Math, Science, and the Arts (ASMSA) and The Texas Academy at UNT, March 1-3, for the 31st Annual SLAMT.
SLAMT brings together LSMSA and its sister schools each spring for a competition that typically includes highly competitive events in categories like volleyball, girls’ basketball, flag football, boys’ basketball, soccer, and table tennis.

For the first time in SLAMT history, this year’s competition ended with a tie between LSMSA and The Texas Academy that remained unbroken after three attempts to determine a winner. The tied schools were named “co-champions” with ASMSA following in third place. LSMSA took home first-place finishes in volleyball, girls’ basketball, and soccer, as well as second-place finishes in boys’ basketball, table tennis, and flag football. The competition’s coveted Traveling Trophy will spend the first six months of the coming year at The Texas Academy before being transferred to Louisiana, where it will spend the following six months.

“SLAMT history was made this year,” said Dale Clingerman, Coordinator of Athletics and Recreation at LSMSA. “It was a hard-fought battle, but sportsmanship and camaraderie were on display by all. Everyone had a great time, and the event was an overall success.”

Fans of LSMSA Athletics can show their support for the program by purchasing LSMSA Eagles sportswear including t-shirts, hoodies, basketball shorts, and more through the Fisher’s Sports and Signs website. Orders must be placed online by March 8 and will be delivered to the school before Spring Break.
