Eight members of the mixed ensemble at LSMSA performed in the district honor bands concert presented by the District II Band Director’s Association on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Tioga High School auditorium. Each of the eight were a part of the top band, the Cavalier Band. Students are Abby Pace, alto saxophone, a senior from Iowa; Juan Cecchini, horn, a junior from Denham Springs; Julian Hunter, trumpet, a senior from Lafayette; Hannah Hauptman, horn, a junior from Denham Springs; Jonas Truax, trombone, a junior from Denham Springs; Kathy Barrios, flute, a senior from Houma; Garett Byrne, bass trombone, a senior from Walker; and Clara Kolterman, flute, a senior from Sterlington.
Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) is the preeminent state-supported residential high school with competitive admissions for Louisiana's high-achieving, highly-motivated sophomores, juniors, and seniors. As a public school, there is no tuition to attend, and assistance from the LSMSA Foundation ensures the program is available to all qualifying students regardless of family financial need.
