Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts Foundation launches public phase of “Growing Beyond” campaign

The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts and the LSMSA Foundation have publicly launched “Growing Beyond: The Campaign for LSMSA,” the most ambitious campaign in school history.
As part of the public launch, leaders announced that $7.1 million has been secured through philanthropic investments from alumni, families, foundations, corporations, and both state and federal outlay.

“Growing Beyond is about building the future our students deserve, one that expands opportunity, strengthens innovation, and ensures LSMSA continues transforming lives across Louisiana for generations to come,” said Dr. Jason Anderson, who was recently named as the new LSMSA executive director. “Just as Louisiana’s leaders made a bold decision to create our School, we must now take bold action to ensure every qualified student can access the unique opportunities only LSMSA offers.”

With an ambitious goal of $10 million, the campaign supports four key areas that will allow the School, students, and faculty to lead, thrive, build, and soar beyond all expectations. Gifts to each pillar work together to not only transform LSMSA for a new era, but also attract and challenge top students and faculty with cutting-edge resources and life-changing opportunities.

“Gifts made to the Growing Beyond campaign ensure that LSMSA continues to be an exemplary educational experience for Louisiana’s brightest students,” said Michele Robinson, executive director of the LSMSA Foundation. “This campaign reflects both the extraordinary legacy of this institution and a bold vision for its future.”

The centerpiece of the Growing Beyond campaign is a state-of-the-art Innovation Center, developed through a partnership between LSMSA, Northwestern State University, and the State of Louisiana. The facility will house the New Family Makerspace, named for Bill and Cindy New, an applied learning environment where students will learn to take ideas from conception to production. The space also has flexible environments where students can create, collaborate, and engage in interdisciplinary, hands-on learning experiences.

During the announcement, LSMSA leadership recognized the many donors, volunteers, trustees, faculty, and staff members who helped make the public launch possible.

“The public launch of the campaign is the culmination of years of work and the belief of so many people who understand the transformational impact of LSMSA,” said Ben Marcel, ’00, who serves as president of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. “Every investment in this campaign is ultimately an investment in the students who will become Louisiana’s future leaders, innovators, researchers, educators, and entrepreneurs.”
