Amanda Callais

Amanda Callais (’01) currently works as an attorney in the political law group at Perkins Coie in Washington, D.C.
Her practice focuses on voting rights and redistricting litigation, in which she primarily represents voters, campaigns, and political committees at both the trial and appellate levels. Prior to working at Perkins, Amanda represented commercial clients as a litigator in the financial services sector and also clerked for the Honorable Carl J. Barbier in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Amanda has also worked as an advocate for maternal and child health initiatives in Louisiana and as an organizer/director on political campaigns nationwide.

Amanda received her J.D. from Tulane University Law School and a B.A. in Political Science and B.A. in History from Louisiana State University. While law school and college certainly prepared Amanda for her professional life, she credits LSMSA as the foundation for all of her academic and professional successes. Her experience at LSMSA not only prepared her for the academic rigors of law school and the late night brief writing of legal practice, but it provided her with important friendships that continue to enrich her life today.

Because LSMSA was such a formative experience in her life, she looks forward to serving on the Board to help ensure that LSMSA continues to be a seminal experience in the lives of students across Louisiana.
