Carlie Procell ('14) creates piece for USA TODAY

Memorializing those lost to COVID-19
Carlie Procell ('14), a Data Journalist with USA TODAY, was among the team of journalists that developed the paper's special feature memorializing the 100,000 who have died in the US from COVID-19.

"We wanted to help show the human toll of the coronavirus and add some context to the data visualizations we’ve been staring at throughout the pandemic," she said. "I'm so honored that I got the chance to help do each person a tiny justice by writing about some of the highlights of their lives. I hope our work helps show readers that every single tiny square represents the sudden loss of an entire human being who was loved."

The feature is included in the May 27, 2020 edition of USA TODAY, and the interactive piece can be viewed at https://www.usatoday.com/pages/interactives/100000-lives-lost-honoring-coronavirus-victims/?fbclid=IwAR2WJuSjsurjeCzUCYc9I_MIeCJSzmkWxcPuXbOriL7lU8N
