Fifteen enjoy renewable energy and conservation tour in Colorado
Students also ski at popular resort
Fifteen students and two staff members from LSMSA enjoyed a six-day renewable energy and conservation tour in Colorado as a part of Special Projects Week.
Students were exposed to aspects of both renewable energy and conservation. They visited and toured the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo., as well as the Colorado School of Mines, a leading institution in renewable energy and conservation research.
The group also took a ranger-guided snowshoe hike through Rocky Mountain National Park to observe wildlife and talk about conservation and speak with renowned scientists at the Denver Museum of Nature Science.
Additionally, they visited Breckenridge, one of the nation’s most popular ski resorts.
Those making the trip included Nicholas Adams, a sophomore from Zachary; Allison Allsop, a sophomore from Montz; Jacob Burton, a senior from Houma; Orlando Edwards, a junior from Baton Rouge; Myles Fabre, a junior from Baton Rouge; Jeralyn Foy, a junior from Winnsboro; Elizabeth LaPonsie, a sophomore from Pollock; Sara Mixon, a sophomore from Lake Charles; Cooper Miller, a junior from Natchitoches; Taylor Rutherford, a sophomore from Lake Charles; Mason Seymour, a junior from Oberlin; Jaiden Stark, a junior from DeRidder; Veronica Sturman, a junior from Natchitoches; Mary Edna Tanksley, a senior from Lake Providence; and Raymond Zheng, a junior from Natchitoches.
Staff members included Thorn LaCaze, senior external affairs officer, and Madison Barras, student life advisor in Caddo Hall.
Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) is the preeminent state-supported residential high school with competitive admissions for Louisiana's high-achieving, highly-motivated sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
