Synthesis and coordination chemistry of N,N'-disubstituted malonamide derivatives as a multi-step reaction for undergraduate labs
Chemistry research commonly involves multiple areas of chemistry; however, lab courses taught in universities traditionally focus on presenting the techniques for one area of chemistry at a time. Creating new lab sequences that use common equipment and safe chemicals would give universities a greater range of interdisciplinary labs for undergraduates to complete. This project focuses on creating a series of malonamide derivatives with various substitutions. Different copper solutions were used for coordination and the effect was analyzed by UV-Vis spectroscopy
