Tedra Cheatham

Tedra Cheatham is Executive Director of State Economic Competitiveness (SEC) for Louisiana Economic Development. 
SEC supports the department’s efforts to enhance the business climate of Louisiana through pursuing key policies and strategic investments to improve opportunities for all residents.

Cheatham, a Louisiana native, is a proud graduate of LSMSA, LSU and the University of New Orleans. Her career started in governmental affairs in the private sector and then transitioned to the staff of the Louisiana State Senate. She also previously held leadership roles in university partnerships, statewide and regional nonprofits and regional and local economic development in Georgia and Texas.

Tedra is a Certified Economic Developer and former member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Board of Directors. An alumna of Leadership Atlanta, she helped establish The Drake House in suburban Atlanta, a residential assessment center for homeless women and their minor children.
