  • Welcome from the Executive Director

“Don’t join an easy crowd; you won’t grow. Go where the expectations and the demands to perform are high.” - Jim Rohn

Those words reflect the spirit and mindset of LSMSA. Every day, I have the privilege of witnessing students embrace their curiosity, challenge conventional thinking, and discover talents they never knew they possessed. It is a journey of growth, innovation, and self-discovery, and I am honored to welcome you to “the nest.”

School Crest:

The LSMSA crest is rich with symbolism, weaving together the school’s core values and identity. At its summit is the head of an eagle, the school’s mascot, representing bravery, alertness, and a noble nature. The central shield signifies strength and protection, framed by laurel leaves that stand for triumph and academic achievement. These symbols are brought to life in the school colors: blue, representing truth and loyalty, and gold, signifying elevated thinking and a generous spirit.

The three symbols used on the shield represent the three major disciplines in the name of the school:
  • Pi - used as a symbol for mathematics
  • Atomic Symbol - used to represent the sciences
  • Lyre & Drama Mask - used to symbolize the arts

The motto on the crest is a gold ribbon displaying the word, Praecellemus (We shall excel). When students selected the school motto in the spring of 1984, they were drawn to the power of "we." This first-person plural emphasizes that while achievement is deeply personal, it is best realized through the unity and "togetherness" of the school's unique living and learning environment.

The banner on the crest displays the name of the school and the founding date of 1983.

Lyrics by: Angela Durden-Duncil, Class of 1996

With futures born of visions broad
And values from our homes endowed,
Diverse and many, we became,
United in your noble name.

Exalted, honored far and wide,
Those selected, tested, tried.
As eagles soaring strong and true,
Over you, Louisiana School.

Dreams discovered, spirits high,
As up above the eagles fly.
Challenged, undaunted, and standing tall.
We rise and conquer, give our all.

Within your walls our strengths are found,
Where heart and mind are bound.
As eagles soaring proudly rule,
Over you, Louisiana School.
