Colt Crain (’19) receives Outstanding Senior in French Award
The award is given to seniors who have shown mastery in the French language.
On Monday, May 13, Colt Crain ('19) received a 2019 Outstanding Senior in French Award from the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF).
The award is made annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of French as well as exceptional commitment to the French language and the cultures where it is spoken. Recipients must have completed at least three years of French study at the time of graduation and be non-native speakers of French.
In addition to meeting these requirements, Crain studied abroad, has compete in the National French Week Contest, is a French Club officer, and a member of the French Honor Society. Much of what he has learned was under the direction of Instructor of French Dr. Nathalie Malti.
The AATF was founded in 1927, and has as its mission the promotion of the study of French language and French-speaking literatures and cultures at all levels.
“We are proud to recognize the achievements of outstanding students and their teachers,” said AATF’s Executive Director Jayne Abrate in a press release. “We hope that this award will motivate students to continue their study of French either through a career in teaching or as a complement to any other profession.”
