LSMSA Students Awarded a Combined Total of Sixteen Medals by the National Classical Etymology Exam

The NCEE is administered annually by the National Junior Classical League (NJCL). According to njcl.org, the NCEE “is designed to test a student's ability to handle both Latin and Greek derivatives and their usage in the English language.” Students took the test throughout the fall semester of 2023, and results were recently mailed to chapter sponsors.

“Congratulations to the Latin students who were recognized for their egregious erudition,” Dr. Tichenor said.

 

Congratulations go to gold medalist Sheila McCrory ('26) (Latin I) as well as silver medalists Patrick Perdue ('26) (Latin I), River Reynolds ('25) (Latin II), and Sean Song ('26) (Latin I). Bronze medalists include Issac Billiot ('26) (Latin I), Julia Dobbins ('26) (Latin I), Juliet Hyams ('26) (Latin I), Collin McNeely ('25) (Latin II), Ceph Plaisance ('25) (Latin II), Basil Pugh ('24) (Latin III), William Reed ('24) (Latin II), Annabel Schleifstein ('26) (Latin I), Claudia Varnado ('25) (Latin I), Sophie Waasdorp ('26) (Latin I), Cody Williams ('24) (Latin II), and Piper Williams ('26) (Latin I).
