LSMSA's Athletic Council Raises Money for Radio MASH Toy Drive

It has become a tradition for LSMSA's Athletic Council to collect money to support the annual "Make A Smile Happen" toy drive. The toy drive, hosted by the Natchitoches Jaycees with the goal of guaranteeing that there are toys under the tree for every child in Natchitoches Parish, is a project that the LSMSA Athletic Council has supported for the past 13 years.
In addition to organizing various fundraisers, members of the Athletic Council request donations from members of the LSMSA community, friends and family, and the LSMSA Board of Directors to help fund their contribution to this project. Additionally, they work on Christmas Festival weekend to raise additional money for the project.

This year, the club raised $2,900 and 16 LSMSA student athletes along with faculty and staff members shopped at Wal-Mart on Dec. 9 to select the toys to contribute to the Jaycees’ annual giving event.

“The LSMSA Athletic Council is proud to support the Natchitoches Jaycees in this noble cause which makes a difference for so many families in the holiday season,” Coordinator of Athletics and Recreation Dale Clingerman said. “One of the highlights of the entire experience is watching our students make decisions on what they consider to be the “best” gifts to give to children in need. There have been years where we spent hours in Wal-Mart making these choices.”
