A Word from the Eagles' Nest

from the desk of Executive Director Dr. Steve Horton
With Christmas Fest last weekend and the December Board Meeting under our belts, it’s officially Christmas time in Natchitoches and at LSMSA!
It’s hard to believe we’re staring down final exams and the end of the semester. Students are doing great, but everyone is READY to get home for the holidays. (You remember those days!)

While a lot of us will be enjoying some much-needed R&R over the next few weeks, our Safety and Operations teams will be hard at work, using the precious and rare empty campus as their blank canvas for what will be a masterpiece of a renovated dining hall and kitchen. Thanks to ESSER funds, we are able to replace appliances, food bars, tables, and chairs, while also reflooring that entire area. In addition to our hard-working maintenance team, we owe a special thanks to Dr. Bill Ebarb for securing and allocating as many funds as possible to help LSMSA continue to succeed.

When we all return in January, the much-awaited and appreciated annual Special Projects week will commence. This is notoriously a fun time for students, faculty, and staff alike – no tests, no grades, no traditional classes, just fun deep-dives into instructors’ areas of interest to help us all segue back into the new semester.

Especially here at the holidays, I have to take time to thank YOU. Whether you’re an alum, parent, grandparent, or former faculty or staff member, if you’re receiving this email, you are a true friend of LSMSA, and we appreciate you more than you know. I hope this holiday season is beautiful for you and your families. If you’re passing through Natchitoches, feel free to stop by “home.”

Ever an eagle!
