LSMSA gets festive for spooky season

This Halloween, LSMSA students and adults alike got into the spooky spirit.

Seeing instructors' participation made students' day.

"The Halloween celebration on Tuesday was amazing, especially with the appearance of Dr. Burkman, the esteemed head of the math and computer science department, who brilliantly became the 'math chef,'" said Cody Williams ('24) of Winnsboro. "Observing the faculty's participation in dressing up for a holiday not only emboldened our Halloween spirit on campus but also underscored their fluency with melding their academic foci into Halloween costumes, increasing school spirit and highlighting their creative prowess."

"For me, Halloween is a way to express myself. It's the one day in the year where I get to dress up with friends as characters from our favorite movies or tv shows," said Elizabeth Meadows ('26) of Natchitoches. "However, Halloween also allows me to find ways to relate to my teachers. Just as I dress up as my favorite characters, so do the teachers. Seeing the teachers dressed up in characters I recognize allows me to feel more comfortable around them, and I'm more willing to go to them knowing that I have something in common with them."

"Dr. Tichenor's Latin group, JCL, dressed up for this year's Halloween and told scary stories in the recital hall of the CPT," said Cohl Cliburn ('24) of Lafayette. "They told spooky stories about monsters and cults. They had the lights off with dim flashlights and candy."
