LSMSA’s 40th Matriculation Ceremony set for Friday, Sept. 2

Former Louisiana School executive director Dr. Patrick Widhalm to deliver address

LSMSA‘s 40^th matriculation ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, in A.A. Fredericks Auditorium on the campus of Northwestern State University. The matriculation ceremony formally welcomes new students to the school, recognizing accomplishments, reinforcing commitment to LSMSA, and encouraging them to apply the necessary diligence to persevere until reaching commencement.

Former Louisiana School executive director Dr. Patrick Widhalm will deliver the address for the school. Now head of school at Ben Franklin High School, Widhalm began his LSMSA career in 1985, teaching major and minor study piano, giving recitals, and accompanying students for the next eight years before accepting an opportunity in 1998 to help found the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities where he served as dean of arts and academics. In 2000, Widhalm returned to LSMSA following the retirement of then executive director Bro. Dave Sinitiere, serving 15 years as LSMSA’s longest-serving executive director.
