LSMSA recognizes faculty and staff

23 members of LSMSA's faculty and staff receive certificates honoring years of service


Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts faculty and staff participated in an annual in-service week of presentations, meetings, and awards earlier this month.

The following faculty and staff were recognized for their five-year increments of service to the school:        
    
Senior Lecturer of Piano Dr. Charles Jones celebrated 30 years of service to the school. Celebrating 25 years of service were Senior Lecturer of Instrumentals, Theory and Composition and Arts Department Chair Dr. Al Benner, Senior Lecturer of Voice and Chorale Ms. Lisa Benner; and Senior Lecturer of Mathematics and Computer Science Ms. Sanjeetha Peters.

Senior Lecturer of Mathematics and Computer Science and Math & Computer Science Department Chair Mr. Brad Burkman was recognized for completing 20 years of service. Celebrating 15 years of service were Principal Lecturer of Biology Dr. Maggie Hodge, Principal Lecturer of Art Mr. Chris King, Director of Student Support Services Ms. Ro Slutsky, and Coordinator of Special Events and Services Ms. Karen Townsend.

Adjunct Professor of Government Dr. John Allen, Personal Counselor Ms. Kim Cain, Lecturer of English Dr. Jocelyn Donlon, Custodian Ms. Lashonda Fisher, Lecturer of English Dr. Pamela Francis, and Assistant Director of Operations Mr. Henry Llorence reached the ten-year milestone.

Completing their fifth year of service were Coordinator of Residential Life Ms. Regina Brossett, Associate Lecturer of Visual Arts Mr. Marcus Journey, Associate Instructor of Dance Ms. Crystal Lewis, Associate Lecturer of Computer Science Mr. Edwin Perez, LSMSA Foundation Assistant Director of Operations Ms. Juliana Sheffield, Associate Lecturer of Theatre Mr. Scott Theriot, Associate Instructor of Latin Dr. Morris Tichenor, and Maintenance Repairer Master Mr. Daniel Ward.

“Having faculty and staff who make the concerted choice to invest in our students has been a hallmark of the Louisiana School for the past 40 years,” said Dr. Steve Horton, Executive Director. “We are grateful for these employees’ years of service, but most importantly, we’re thankful for their willingness to further our students’ educational experiences.”

In addition, longtime Biology instructor Dr. Jason Anderson was named Interim Director of Academic Affairs, and former LSMSA Deputy Director Dr. Bill Ebarb was named Special Assistant to the Executive Director.
