A word from the Eagles' nest - August 2023

from the desk of Executive Director Dr. Steve Horton
Happy new school year at LSMSA! We are thrilled to have 284 high-achieving, highly motivated students on campus for our 40th year of school.
Last weekend, we welcomed 75 sophomore, 106 junior, and 103 senior Eagles back to the nest. It’s been a flurry of activity between (very warm) move-ins, advising, and classes beginning today, but we’re off to a solid start and look forward to all the successes this school year will bring. Last week’s faculty and staff annual In-Service training was made so much easier thanks to the generosity of several local banks, the LSMSA Alumni Association, and Josten’s – all of whom fed us breakfast and lunch. We had a great social time at Flying Heart Brewery one night, catching up on summer activities and gearing up for the beginning of the semester.

I hope by now you’ve received your invitation to the school’s 40th anniversary events at the end of September. If not, consider this your invite! The weekend will consist of a program here at the school with a panel of alumni, faculty, staff, and parents from throughout the decades; ticketed cocktails and dinner downtown; and a community-wide picnic on the front lawn of the High School Building. I really hope to see as many of you as possible. Just as LSMSA wouldn’t be what it is without current employees and students, it also wouldn’t be what it is without YOU – our treasured alumni, parents and grandparents of graduates, former faculty and staff, and friends of our beloved school. With the Natchitoches Classic Car Show in town that weekend, it’s sure to be a fun time, so please RSVP so we can plan accordingly.

Stay tuned for updates from the school – big things are happening!
