LSMSA basketball teams compete in playoffs

LSMSA girls’ and boys’ basketball teams competed in the SLICE sports league playoffs March 30-31.
The Lady Eagles took home the first-place trophy, and LSMSA’s Samantha Dugan (’23) of Mandeville was named MVP. The boys’ team played hard to finish fourth in their bracket. LSMSA’s Andre Williams (’24) of Viola was named MVP, with Jordan Murray (’23) of Lake Charles earning the coveted LSMSA Athletics spirit belt for his game-changing performances throughout the day.

“I am so proud of the effort that both teams gave and the teamwork they displayed in this tournament,” said LSMSA Coordinator of Athletics and Recreation Dale Clingerman, adding that he and the other coaches enjoy working with such dedicated athletes each year.

LSMSA's athletics program is designed to encourage students at all levels to develop and maintain habits that will promote healthy lifestyles through lifetime sports. In addition to interscholastic athletics, informal recreation, and a variety of varsity athletics, LSMSA has special agreements with two local high schools that allow students to participate in a wider range of competitive programs.

LSMSA is a tuition-free, residential, public high school for high-achieving rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a nominal room and board fee to cover housing, meals, and campus activities. The LSMSA Foundation offers assistance for families in need.
