LSMSA alum helps students bloom with IRIS scholarship

Ponchatoula native, California resident, and LSMSA Foundation board member Clayton Trosclair ('96) knows from experience that an LSMSA education can open doors. That's why he and his spouse, Denis Nudel, want to help students to pursue their dreams even beyond that.
"LSMSA continues to provide an incredible living/learning atmosphere for students from throughout Louisiana," says Trosclair. "Sadly, many graduates don't get to go on to their dream schools after LSMSA because of lack of funding."

Inspired by a love for gardening and the Louisiana state flower, Trosclair and Nudel established the IRIS scholarship to give an outstanding LSMSA graduate an opportunity to dream bigger.

"'IRIS' comes from the Greek word for 'rainbow' -- a beautiful symbol of diversity," says Trosclair. "It feels appropriate since the Louisiana School has been and still is a wonderful, diverse place where kids can be themselves."

The philanthropic couple is asking the school administration set criteria for the scholarship and hope to grow the funds in the future, and encourages anyone to join them in helping students succeed.

"The LSMSA Foundation offers so many ways to help students,” says Trosclair. “Even a small gift can make a difference in a student's life as they head off to college.”
