Come Home Sunday! -- Update to Students (1.5.22)

Good afternoon, Eagles!

 

Pack your bags and get ready to return to campus on  SUNDAY, JANUARY 9!  The LLC will open at 3 p.m., and you will need to be checked in no later than 9 p.m. Sunday.

 

Though statewide infection rates are still high, we have the campus ready for a safe return.  Of course, the indoor mask mandate, social distancing policy, and isolation policies are all reinstated from last semester.  As an extra precaution, we will reinstate temperature checks and will utilize the REACH system for the reporting of symptoms and illnesses.  We expect to continue to offer the voluntary COVID tests that were implemented last fall. Students, faculty and staff will all have the opportunity to take advantage of this program offered by LSU Health Science Center.

 

It is important to understand, however, that any student who feels sick or is experiencing symptoms should report them to the Health Services office immediately. Should a student test positive for COVID, they will be isolated immediately, and parents will be contacted to come to campus to pick up their student on the day of the positive test.  Otherwise, we take the risk of infecting the LSMSA community.

 

If you are currently sick, please let Nurse Mary’s office know as soon as possible so that her office can discuss campus return options (mteekell@lsmsa.edu). Please do not return to campus without clearance from Nurse Mary if you are experiencing symptoms or have recently been exposed to someone who has tested positive. 

 

Over the next day you will begin to hear from LSMSA regarding the Eagle Bus schedule, which will run Sunday afternoon; Dr. Key’s office will update you on any Special Project details and advising for Spring; and Ms.Shumate’s office will provide information on LLC updates and protocols. 

 

Special Projects will begin Monday, January 10, and the spring semester classes will begin Monday, January 17.
