Gearing Up for Social Service Weekend 2020

The Alumni Association is gearing up for the 14th annual Social Service Weekend to help get the campus ready for the new school year! The event is set for August 1 and will have a few changes due to Covid-19 concerns. Here's a quick caption of the details; a full registration email will be in your inbox soon!

Social Service Weekend continues to gather alumni to help get the LSMSA campus ready for the new school year. Due to the concerns of Covid-19, there are a few changes to the schedule:
  • This is a one-day only event, and the dorms cannot be utilized for overnight accommodations. The Alumni Association has negotiated a group rate with the Days Inn for those who arrive Friday and/or spend the night Saturday.
  • Child care is unavailable this year. All volunteers must be age 15 or older and must work alongside parent/guardian.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be served on campus. We encourage attendees to bring tents, lawn chairs and pop-up tables as we may not be able to use the cafeteria. Dinner is scheduled to be served at Cane River Brewing Co.
  • Attendees are responsible for bringing all PPE, including masks, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes.
  • A registration fee of $15 per person will cover the cost of three meals on Saturday. We are working on a project list. If you are unable to attend -- no worries! There's the option to help sponsor the event (details in the registration email to follow).
A special thank you to Social Service Coordinators Laura Bourque ('92) and Brittany Taraba ('07), as well as Amy Hebert ('88), Paul Carter ('91), Matthew Couvillion ('93), Tesia Campbell ('97) and Jamie Smith ('88) for working to make this SSW happen!
