School's response to COVID-19

Update as of March 11; 8 PM
There are no confirmed cases of the Coronavirus at LSMSA, Northwestern State University or Natchitoches Parish.
There are no confirmed cases of the Coronavirus at LSMSA, Northwestern State University, or in Natchitoches Parish for that matter. We do, however, anticipate that it is only a matter of time before North Louisiana is impacted. We continue to follow the advice of public health officials to protect the health and well-being of our community. Please be cautious of rumors and speculation on social media or in other sources where factual information is not provided.

We are aware that other schools around the country are closing and/or moving to online class platforms. We are strongly considering these options, and this week, we asked faculty members to prepare for the possibility of closing LSMSA temporarily and moving to an online format.

Our goal is to complete the spring semester so that all students get full credit for the semester and can graduate without delay.

We know this situation requires patience, as not all questions can be answered at this time. But we assure you that we are taking this situation very seriously, and your child’s safety and well-being is our utmost concern.
We are in continuous communication with Northwestern State University and our partners on the Governor’s Task Force, and we are closely following guidance provided by the Center for Disease Control and the Louisiana Department of Health. I pledge to keep you informed of all decisions and of any confirmed cases of the virus at LSMSA or NSU.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children.  We are taking excellent care of them!

Best,

Steve Horton
