Recital showcases vocal, instrumental performances

Students perform for their peers
A mixture of vocal and instrumental performances were presented during a student recital held Monday, Sept. 25, in the recital hall of the Center for Performance and Technology at LSMSA.

Performers included Sydney Sorbet, a sophomore from Covington; Kathy Barrios, a senior from Houma; Hannah Hauptman, a junior from Denham Springs; Garett Byrne, a senior from Walker; Christopher Comeaux, a junior from Covington; Caroline Koonce, a junior from Baton Rouge; Jonas Truax, a junior from Denham Springs; Hannah Rice, a senior from Mandeville; Julian Hunter, a senior from Lafayette; and Juan Cecchini, a junior from Denham Springs.

Sydney Sorbet, soprano, sang “The Pool of Quietness”; Kathy Barrios, soprano, sang “Make a Rainbow”; Hannah Hauptman played “Nocturno, Op 7” on the horn; Garett Byrne played “Non piu andrai” from “Le Nozze di Fagaro” on the horn; Christopher Comeaux, bass, sang “Sebben crudele” from “La costanza in amor vince l’inganno”; Caroline Koonce, soprano, sang “Kindergarten Boyfriend” from “Heathers: The Musical”; Jonas Truax and Garett Byrne played “Reasonableness Standard” on the trombone; Hannah Rice, soprano, sang “Tornami a vagheggiar” from “Alcina”; and Julian Hunter played trumpet, Juan Cecchini played horn, Jonas Truax played tenor trombone and Garett Byrne played bass trombone on “Down to the River to Pray.”

All performers were accompanied by Dr. Charles Jones, senior lecturer of piano at LSMSA.

The student recital was coordinated by Dr. Al Benner, senior lecturer of instrumentals, theory and composition and chair of the Department of Creative and Performing Arts, and Lisa Benner, senior lecturer of voice and chorale.
