Visual arts students visit Chimp Haven

Five learn about unique community of retired chimpanzees
Five visual arts students and an instructor from LSMSA visited the Chimp Haven chimpanzee rescue in Keithville on Saturday, Sept. 16. During the visit, students created drawings, took photos and viewed paintings created by the chimpanzees. They also planted seeds for the chimp garden and heard about the history, diets, habits and veterinary needs of this unique chimpanzee community that houses more than 200 retired chimpanzees. “I would like to thank the LSMSA Foundation for assisting with field trip expenses so that our students can afford to discover the wonderful world around them,” said Chris King, lecturer of visual arts.
