School closes due to Harvey

Planned activities are being rescheduled
In light of Gov. John Bel Edwards' State of Emergency declaration for the entire state of Louisiana and consistent forecasts for heavy winds and rain throughout the week, LSMSA will suspend operations at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, and will reopen the residence halls at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 4.

Parents are asked to pick up their students at their earliest possible convenience. The residence halls will close at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, and food service will not provide dinner on Tuesday.

In order to accommodate the necessary travel arrangements, students who are picked up before 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday will be excused from their classes, and students who will be driving themselves home will also be excused as necessary.

The Matriculation Ceremony and Parents' Council meeting originally scheduled for this Friday will be postponed and rescheduled at a later date.
