Two seniors receive scholarships from AFCEA

Instructor also earns teaching grant from organization
Two seniors and an instructor from LSMSA were recognized during the annual AFCEA scholarship banquet held Thursday, April 27, in Bossier City.

Bryce Istre of Egan and MyChel Robinson of Mansura were both awarded a scholarship from the ArkLaTex Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.

The scholarship is awarded to students who plan to pursue a degree in electronics, electrical or communications, or computer engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or information technology or a closely related field. Recipients must have at least a 3.0 cumulative high school grade point average, and a combined 3.0 GPA for all math and science courses taken.

Dr. Stephen Costin, associate lecturer of chemistry, was awarded a $2,000 Science Teaching Tools Grant. The grant will go toward equipment and/or supplies for special science teaching projects or programs.

AFCEA is an international organization that serves its members by providing a forum for the ethical exchange of information. It is dedicated to increasing knowledge through the exploration of issues relevant to its members in information technology, communications and electronics for the defense, homeland security and intelligence communities.
