Students elect SGO officers for 2017-18 school year
Eleven to serve as leaders
Students at LSMSA recently elected three students to serve as the executive committee of the Student Government Organization for the 2017-18 school year. Amy Liu, a junior from Alexandria, will serve as president. Sofia Rivera, a junior from Covington, will serve as vice president. Lauren Rains, a junior from Zachary, will serve as secretary/treasurer. The purpose of the SGO at LSMSA is to provide leadership in extracurricular and co-curricular student activities to ensure compliance with the school’s philosophy and to serve as a liaison among faculty, administration and the student body. Any student may attend SGO meetings that are held bi-monthly.
Members of the Class of 2018 recently elected three students to serve as senior class officers for the 2017-18 school year. They are Presley Simmons, president, a junior from Walker; Emmanuel Perez, vice president, a junior from Monroe; and Devon Mathews, secretary/treasurer, a junior from Natchitoches.
Members of the Class of 2018 recently elected five students to serve as senior class senators for the 2017-18 school year. They are Ruby Kharod, a junior from Opelousas; Adreanna Queen, a junior from Natchitoches; Jakob Shimer, a junior from Lake Charles; Marcus Shallow, a junior from Elton; and Edouard Ferrell, a junior from Natchitoches.
Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) is the preeminent state-supported residential high school with competitive admissions for Louisiana's high-achieving, highly-motivated sophomores, juniors, and seniors. As a public school, there is no tuition to attend, and assistance from the LSMSA Foundation ensures the program is available to all qualifying students regardless of family financial need.
