Five students from LSMSA participated in the Louisiana Regional Science Bowl held Saturday, March 18, at the University of New Orleans. The event was sponsored by the Department of Energy/Strategic Petroleum Reserve and drew 15 high schools from north and south Louisiana, as well as Mississippi. The LSMSA team placed sixth in a field of 21 registered teams. Team members include Caroline Jin, a junior from Shreveport; Kerry Doyle, a junior from Eros; Presley Simmons, a junior from Walker; Clara Kolterman, a junior from Sterlington; and Ben Walker, a sophomore from Mandeville.
Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) is the preeminent state-supported residential high school with competitive admissions for Louisiana's high-achieving, highly-motivated sophomores, juniors, and seniors. As a public school, there is no tuition to attend, and assistance from the LSMSA Foundation ensures the program is available to all qualifying students regardless of family financial need.
