Student becomes semifinalist in USA Biology Olympiad

Reddick prepares for next exam
Only one student from the state of Louisiana was announced as a semifinalist in the USA Biology Olympiad Exam, and she attends LSMSA

Milla Reddick, a junior from Grand Cane, was recognized as one of the top 10 percent of students who took the exam and progressed to the next exam given in March.

Reddick, along with 21 other biology students at LSMSA, took the exam in February. The exam is for any high school biology student and consists of 50 multiple choice questions that cover many different topics in biology such as genetics, animal anatomy and plant physiology.

More than 10,000 students from 44 different states, in addition to several international schools, registered for the exam.

Reddick is preparing to take the semifinal exam, and results will be available in April. The top 20 students on the semifinal exam are invited to attend a training session at Marymount University in Arlington, Va., that culminates in an exam. The top four finalists are invited to attend the International Biology Olympiad that will be held later this year in Coventry, United Kingdom.
