Members of the mixed ensemble at LSMSA won the district sweepstakes trophy after competing in the LMEA District II large ensemble assessment. To receive the sweepstakes trophy, students must score a superior in both performance and sight reading. This accomplishment qualifies the group to participate in the LMEA regional/state large ensemble to be held in April at Pineville High School. Members of the LSMSA mixed ensemble include Shona McCullough, a senior from Baton Rouge; Kathy Barrios, a junior from Houma; Bethany Jenkins, a senior from Ville Platte; Genesis Lambert, a senior from Denham Springs; Emma Shupe, a junior from Baton Rouge; Sarah Green, a junior from Houma; Veronica Jimenez, a senior from Bogalusa; Elyse Duplantier, a sophomore from Zachary; Carrie Thomas, a senior from Denham Springs; Ian Sager, a senior from Geismar; Daniel Metzger, a sophomore from Slidell; Garett Byrne, a junior from Walker; Jonas Truax, a sophomore from Denham Springs; Julian Hunter, a junior from Lafayette; Marcos Cecchini, a senior from Denham Springs; Juan Cecchini, a sophomore from Denham Srpings; Christian Hairr, a senior from Sulphur; Clara Kolterman, a junior from Sterlington; and Abby Pace, a junior from Iowa.
Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) is the preeminent state-supported residential high school with competitive admissions for Louisiana's high-achieving, highly-motivated sophomores, juniors, and seniors. As a public school, there is no tuition to attend, and assistance from the LSMSA Foundation ensures the program is available to all qualifying students regardless of family financial need.
