Students participate in district literary rally

Fifteen qualify for state competition

Fifteen students from LSMSA participated in the Northwest Louisiana District Literary Rally held Saturday, Feb. 18, at Northwestern State University.

More than 1,500 high school students and administrators throughout the region attended the event. Students were tested in 47 different academic areas in an effort to advance to the state rally competition. The state rally will be held Saturday, April 1, on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

Recognized as medal winners were Angela Fang, a junior from Mandeville, Biology II; Kevin Pan, a junior from Lafayette, Chemistry; Elizabeth Long, a senior from Natchitoches, Fine Arts Survey; Anne-Marie Higginbotham, a sophomore from Lafayette, French I; Elyse Duplantier, a sophomore from Zachary, French II; Albert Chen, a junior from Natchitoches, Physics; Kabir Shah, a senior from Natchitoches, Spanish III; and Kodie Garza, a senior from Ringgold, Spanish IV.

Other state qualifiers include Casey Tonnies, a sophomore from Bossier City, Algebra II; Ruby Kharod, a junior from Opelousas, English III; Kennedy Ellender, a senior from Westlake, French III; Andrew Bagert, a sophomore from Kenner, Geometry; Caroline Jin, a junior from Shreveport, Journalism I; Song Le Jeune, a sophomore from Metairie, Spanish II; and Grace Fields, a sophomore from Prairieville, U.S. History.
