Marissa Scott, a 2015 graduate of LSMSA, recently accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Scott is a sophomore at American University in Washington, D.C. She is actively involved on campus with the pep band, as well as the Alliance, which is a group of organizations that offer service and help to those on campus and in the community. She also works tutoring young students after school. NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization for first- and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing. NSCS has more than one million lifetime members and 300 chapters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) is the preeminent state-supported residential high school with competitive admissions for Louisiana's high-achieving, highly-motivated sophomores, juniors, and seniors. As a public school, there is no tuition to attend, and assistance from the LSMSA Foundation ensures the program is available to all qualifying students regardless of family financial need.
