Nine seniors visit Centenary

Nine seniors boarded a Centenary College bound bus on Friday, Nov. 11, to enjoy an action packed weekend of events.

Visiting a campus is the best way to learn whether a college is right for you. Making an “official” Centenary visit that includes an admission information session and a campus tour or attendance at an open house can land a student big money. Seniors who visit Centenary and apply by Thursday, Dec. 15, are automatically eligible for a $5,000 per year visit scholarship, renewable for up to three years.

Students making the trip to sit in on classes, spend the night in a residence hall and tour the campus were Elizabeth Gill of Natchitoches, Luis Ortiz of Oberlin, Abbie Boudreaux of Baton Rouge, Kennedy Ellender of Westlake, Lauren Tuggle of Benton, Kodie Garza of Ringgold, Veronica Jimenez of Bogalusa, Katelyn Frost of Bossier City and Marissa Ramsey of New Iberia.

“I went on the trip to make sure that Centenary was my number one choice, and it was,” said Gill.

While at Centenary, students were able to ask questions of Dr. Christopher Holoman, president, and Dr. Jenifer Ward, provost. They were also able to meet with professors that worked in their departments of interest. After a campus tour, they went to the admission office where they met their student hosts.

“My favorite part of the trip was eating in the admissions office with everyone and enjoying awesome pizza and chatting with the admissions team,” said Gill. “It was really fun.”

Leah Lentz, co-director of the College Counseling Center, offered a special thank you to Katie Chopin, recruitment and event coordinator, and the entire Office of Admissions at Centenary College of Louisiana.
