Nine students earn All-State honors

Seven students from LSMSA went through two rounds of auditions to achieve selection to the Louisiana Music Educators Association All-State bands, orchestra or choirs. Two students went through a single taped audition and were also selected.
Kathy Barrios, a junior from Houma, was selected as an alto for the Mixed Choir; Garett Byrne, a junior from Denham Springs, was chosen for the Symphonic Band to play the bass trombone; Abby Pace, a junior from Iowa, was chosen to play the alto sax for the Concert Band; Marcos Cecchini, a senior from Denham Springs, was chosen to play alto sax for the Concert Band; Veronica Jimenez, a senior from Bogalusa, was chosen to play the flute for the Concert Band; Christian Hairr, a senior from Sulphur, was chosen to play the bassoon for the Orchestra; Julian Hunter, a junior from Lafayette, was chosen to play the trumpet for the Orchestra; Angela Fang, a junior from Mandeville, was chosen to play the piano in the Symphonic Band; and Devon Mathews, a junior from Natchitoches, was chosen to play the violin for the Orchestra.

All-State activities will take place in Baton Rouge Nov. 17-21 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Students from across nine districts in Louisiana competed for these select spots.
