Two students to perform live Sunday, Oct. 9, on Red River Radio
Two students from LSMSA were chosen as winners in the Red River Young Artist competition.
Hannah Rice and Christopher Comeaux will perform live at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, in the Red River Radio studios. Seating is free, but limited. A reception will follow the performances.
Rice, a junior from Mandeville, will perform “Stizzoso, mio stizzoso” by Giovanni Pergolesi. Comeaux, a sophomore from Covington, will sing “Rovin’ Gambler” by John Jacob Niles.
Each year, Red River Radio hosts a competition for young musicians throughout its listening region. These young people submit recordings to be judged by a panel of distinguished professional musicians.
The winners chosen are offered the opportunity to perform for a radio broadcast in front of a live audience and to have their performance professionally recorded by the radio’s staff.
The competition is open to instrumentalists and vocalists ages 18 and under in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.
Winners are selected based on ability, musicality and appropriateness of the selection for a radio program.
