The Science Speaker Series at LSMSA kicked off on Friday, Sept. 9, with a presentation by a professor from the Louisiana Scholars’ College.
Dr. Curt Phifer, a professor of biology, presented “Eating Behavior: Disorders and Control (Calories, Nutrients and Neurons).”
The Science Speaker Series at LSMSA consists of talks given by university professors and other professionals from around the state. Some of the topics that guest speakers discuss include their field of study, their career, their research and their institution.
According to Dr. Chris Hynes, instructor of chemistry at LSMSA, guests describe the research being done in their department so that LSMSA students will know what sort of research they would be doing if they chose to attend that university.
The speaker series also helps arrange summer internships for students and builds connections between LSMSA and these other institutions.
