Fourth annual fall dance concert set for Oct. 21-23

The Department of Creative and Performing Arts at LSMSA will present its fourth annual fall dance concert Friday through Sunday, Oct. 21-23, in Treen Auditorium.
Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, and Saturday, Oct. 22. A matinee performance will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23.

The event is open to the public.

The hour-long dance concert includes performances by the LSMSA dance ensemble as well as guest performing artists from the Dazzle Dance Center and the Department of Theater and Dance from Northwestern State University.

Original choreography by Audra Allen, artistic director, will be presented in the styles of contemporary, ballet, modern and jazz with a mix of comedy for some humor. Brett Alan Garfinkel and Rebecca Morgan, both of NSU, will premiere original choreography in the styles of contemporary and tap to be performed by the dance ensemble.

Michael Carrier will perform a solo choreographed by Taylor Smith, both students of NSU’s Department of Theater and Dance. Students from the Dazzle Dance Center will perform two group dances.

Dancers include Lauren Aguillard, a sophomore from Prairieville; Gabbi Blanchard, a junior from Houma; Janie Bourgeois, a senior from LaPlace; Lauren Copeland, a junior from Baton Rouge; Tierney Dardar, a senior from Galliano; Edouard Ferrell, a junior from Natchitoches; Olivia Gotte, a junior from Iota; Jared Hulsey, a senior from Dodson; Kelsie Lanthier, a senior from Lake Charles; Abigail LeBlanc, a sophomore from Fordoche; Annie Noel, a senior from Mandeville; Lily Orgeron, a sophomore from Lockport; Heather Soileau, a senior from Lafayette; Larke Tyler, a senior from Calhoun; and Samantha Wright, a junior from Crowley.

Technicians include Beth Fontenot, a senior from Ville Platte; Caitlin Foster, a junior from LaPlace; Ben Bordelon, a senior from Mandeville; Chas Chapman, a senior from Haughton; DJ Picolo, a senior from Destrehan; Mason Rutledge, a senior from Patterson; and Triniti Bulliard, a senior from New Iberia.

Tickets are $7. Children younger than 10 are free. Students from LSMSA and NSU are free with current ID. Reservations are not required, and tickets may be purchased at the time of the performance.
