Membership in the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica is invitation-only and is based on academic achievement in the Spanish language after at least two semesters of study of the same. To maintain membership throughout high school, a member of the Society must be actively enrolled in a Spanish class each academic year, must have a clean disciplinary record, maintain an average of 90% in Spanish classes taken, and have an LSMSA cumulative GPA of, at least 2.8 at the end of each academic year. Members participate in literary rallies, the Southeastern Louisiana University Annual Foreign Language Festival, hold an annual fundraiser, and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

LSMSA is a residential, public high school for high-achieving rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a nominal room and board fee to cover housing, meals, and campus activities. The LSMSA Foundation offers assistance for families in need. For more information about the Louisiana School, including how to apply for the 2023-24 school year, visit www.LSMSA.edu.
