New Employee Spotlight: Marissa Ramsey

All students at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) live in a state-of-the-art residence hall, the Living Learning Commons, under the supervision of a professionally trained, full-time student services staff while engaging in and exploring extracurricular activities.
Student Life Advisor for the first floor of C Tower, Marissa “Mars” Ramsey is a 2017 alumna of the Louisiana School who knows what the newly opened Living Learning Commons means to the 360 new and returning students that moved in Aug. 12-15.

After graduating from LSMSA, Ramsey went on to study French/Francophone Studies and Communications at Centenary College of Louisiana. She graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in May of this year.

“During my last year of college, I became highly involved with Centenary's Student Affairs sector,” Ramsey shared. “I am now pursuing Student Affairs as a career. I feel called to build community and facilitate safe spaces for individuals to become the best versions of themselves.”

Ramsey chose to “return to the nest” at LSMSA because it is the first institution that made her feel seen, heard, and accepted.

“It gave me a sense of community that's never left,” she said.

Ramsey is from New Iberia (whoo south Louisiana!) and was a HIGHLY motivated and involved college student. She was the President of the French club, a Student Government Association Senator, an Integrated Advising Peer Mentor, a Senior Editor of the literary magazine, a French tutor, and a student member of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee. She was also an alto in the Centenary College Choir, and more!

She’s currently in the process of enrolling into NSU's Student Affairs in Higher Education Masters Program.

“I'm most excited to connect with LSMSA students via hall and community programs and to simply live in the brand new LLC,” Ramsey added.
