Guest Artist Hilary Peterson to work virtually with LSMSA’s senior dance students

Senior dance students at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) will benefit from a virtual workshop with guest artist Hilary Peterson, as part of their Dance Ensemble Class with Associate Lecturer of Dance Crystal Lewis.

As part of its plan to bring students back to campus in a safe way, the Gold Cohort will return to LSMSA on Feb. 27 through March 28. During this time the Dance Ensemble students will be in the same location together as Peterson creates work with them for their spring dance show. She will Zoom in to set work on them.

“I thought this would be a nice gift for the seniors in the student dance company as they are in their final semester,” said Lewis. “Especially after the year we have all had!”

In return, Lewis will teach a master class via Zoom to Peterson’s dance students in the dance program at Southeast Missouri State University.

“We wanted to find a way to collaborate as dance educators in providing the students with a guest artist experience, even in the midst of COVID,” Lewis explained. “We decided an exchange of services would be beneficial, but also provide a way for me to give back to my undergraduate alma mater.”
