Ernest Russell Lala ('98) assists successful space exploration mission

At Mission Control Center for International Space Station
Ernest Russell Lala ('98) and the team at the International Space Station Mission Control Center successfully sent Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken into space this weekend! They docked and boarded ISS on Sunday, May 31, 2020.

"Over the last 3.5 years, being the lead Motion Control Group instructor for United States Crew Vehicle has been one of my major tasks. This involved everything from coming up with training and simulations for the flight control team for the DM1 and DM2 missions to development of the training material for the crew with respect to the Motion Control system," he said.

Russell serves as the ADCO Increment Lead and helped train the crew and the flight controllers on the motion control system (guidance navigation and control) for this mission. He is the lead for his subsystem and as Increment Lead, he serves as the point of contact for any questions related to MCS operations or failures and was integral in training and in helping the operations team finalize the operation procedures and flight rules.
