Faculty and Staff volunteer at Cane River Food Pantry
LSMSA Faculty and Staff stepped up to take the students’ place at Cane River Food Pantry on Thursday, May 7. Students, who often volunteer at the Food Pantry, were unable to lend a hand due to early school closures brought on by COVID-19.
Mary Teekle, school nurse, Dr. Justin Barker, instructor of English, Dr. Karen Stirrett, instructor of biology, and Jenny Schmitt, assistant director of student services volunteered their time to pack boxes and bags for more than 250 local families.
Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) is the preeminent state-supported residential high school with competitive admissions for Louisiana's high-achieving, highly-motivated sophomores, juniors, and seniors. As a public school, there is no tuition to attend, and assistance from the LSMSA Foundation ensures the program is available to all qualifying students regardless of family financial need.
