Honored as best student newspaper at NSU Journalism and Media Day
The Renaissance, LSMSA’s student-run newspaper, took first place at Northwestern State University’s 46th annual Journalism and Media (JaM) Day on Friday, Nov. 1, winning best overall publication. JaM Day brings together communications professionals with diverse backgrounds and skills to inspire future professional communicators in the ever-evolving field of communication.

LSMSA's Journalism course is an introductory survey of the purpose, procedures, careers and effects of journalism including legal and ethical responsibilities. Thorn LaCaze, senior external affairs officer, is the instructor.
