Music Department hosts annual Fall Concert

LSMSA Students perform fan favorites and Christmas tunes at annual Fall Concert.

Students from the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts’s (LSMSA) Mixed Ensemble and Chorale groups performed at the school’s annual Fall Concert. The two day event, with showings on Sunday, Dec. 4, and Monday, Dec. 5, featured popular Christmas, secular and classical musical.

The school’s Mixed Ensemble was conducted by Senior Lecturer of Instrumentals Dr. Al Benner. The group played “Free Spirit Overture” by Jerry Williams, “American Patrol” by F.W. Meacham, “Digital Prisms” by Larry Clark, “Hindoo Priests” by Theo Bendix, “Yesterday” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, “Get It On” by William E. Chase and Richard Marinan, “Festive Sounds of Christmas” by Darren Jenkins and “Santa Loves to Cha-Cha” by Ed Huckeby. Dr. Benner arranged or rearranged all pieces from the group’s performance, with the exception of “Digital Prisms.”

The group consisted of:

Flutists Sneha Anthony (’21), Josie Dial (’20) and Natalie Gleason (’20).

Clarinetists Belle Brown (’20) and Daniel Metzger (’19).

Alto Saxophonists Christina Lo (’20) and Andrew Yen (’21).

Horn players: Juan Cecchini (’19), Hannah Hauptman (’19), and Emma McCarthy (’21).

Trombonist Jonas Truax (’19).

Percussionist Song Le Jeune (’19).

LSMSA’s Chorale group was conducted by Senior Lecturer of Voice and Chorale Lisa Benner. The students performed “Gloria in excelsis Deo” by Antonio Vivaldi, “Psallite” by Michael Praetorious, “Bless the Lord, O My Soul” by George Frideric Handel, “Nativity Carol” by John Rutter, “Christmas Time is Here” by Lee Mendelson and Vince Guaraldi, “Caroling, Caroling” by Alfred Burt, Russian Folk Tune “Sleigh Bells” and “Jingle Bells” by James Pierpont.

The Chorale group consists of:

Sopranos Elaina Bachman (’21), Chirstan Bates (’20), Brynlee Daigle (’19), Sanele Harmon (’21), Goldie Howard (’20), Allison Johnson (’21), Madi Kavanaugh (’21), Sabrina Scott (’20), Sydney Sorbet (’20), and Annie Tyler (’19).

Altos Madi Bolin (’19), Emma Doucet (’21), Mila Griffith (’20), Kailin LeBlanc (’19), Arden Miller (’19), Izzy Nguyen (’20), Tobi Ojemakinde (’19), Morgan Phelps (’19), Jessie Rabalais (’19), Camille Seymour (’21), and Khenedi Williams (’20).

Tenors Coyt Bailey (’20), Luke Boston (’19), Juan Cecchini (’19), and Camren Hohn (’19).

Basses Christopher Comeaux (’19), Garrett Pattison (’19), Drake Pelletier (’20), Jakob Reeves (’20), and Jonas Truax (’19).
