LSMSA student named winner at Senior Piano Performance Competition

Junior Beatrice Hoang placed first at the Senior Piano Performance competition for the state of Louisiana.
Natchitoches— Beatrice Hoang, a junior from the Louisiana School for the Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA), placed first at the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Senior Piano Performance competition for the state of Louisiana, held at Northwestern State University on October 27.

With this achievement, she will now advance to the MTNA South Central Division. She will be competing against winners from Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas for a right to advance to the national finals in Spokane, Washington on March 2019.

Hoang is a student of Dr. Charles Jones, LSMSA’s senior lecturer of piano. She has also worked with Dr. Saida Kafarova in Austin, TX.

On October 28, Hoang went to Baylor University in Waco, Texas, alongside her brother Ben Hoang. She and Ben placed first the MTNA Senior Piano Duet Competition in October and will be moving on to the regional competition.
