Students compete in state science fair

Doyle, Simpson place in senior division categories
Three students from LSMSA participated in the Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair held March 19-21 on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. They were Kerry Doyle, a senior from Eros; Emma Simpson, a senior from Shreveport; and Jordan Byrd, a junior from Denham Springs. Doyle placed second in the senior division of chemistry. Her project was “The Synthesis of Water-Soluble Boron Dipyrromethena Dyes Detecting Chemical Nerve Agents.” Simpson placed fourth in the senior division of earth and environmental sciences. Her project was “The Impact of Sediment Composition on the Genus Gamamrus.” Byrd competed in the senior division of astronomy and physics. His project was “Ping Pong Physics: An Analysis of Player Performance Using Different Equipment and Spin.”
