Moulton receives silver medal in Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Senior places in top one percent of all submissions
A senior from LSMSA earned recognition in the 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

Bryce Moulton, of Natchitoches, won a silver medal in the humor category for his work “Tim’s Totally out of This World Trip.” His teacher was Dr. Pamela Francis, associate lecturer of English at LSMSA.

By receiving a silver medal, Moulton places in the top one percent of all submissions. Nearly 350,000 works of art and writing were submitted by students in grades 7-12 this year.

The Scholastic Awards look for work that demonstrates originality, technical skill and emergence of a personal voice or vision. Public, private or home-school students in the United States, Canada or American schools abroad enrolled in grades 7-12 are eligible to participate in the Scholastic Awards.

Since 1923, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity and talent of our nation’s youth and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Each year, increasing numbers of teens participate in the program and become a part of the community – young artists and writers, filmmakers and photographers, poets and sculptors, video game artists and science fiction writers, along with countless educators who support and encourage the creative process.

The awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Through the awards, students receive opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication and scholarships.
